Beware of an organisation’s name…… they often do more than you might think!

Anna #JobCentrePlus – longtime cheerleader of Growing Talent – asked if her contact from the Poppy Factory could join the virtual information session for applicants interested in the next programme.

I rolled my eyes.

I’ve tried working with various Armed Forces groups supporting our awesome veterans and their families before. I’ve spent time taking briefs and writing workshops and then ….. tumbleweed.

‘Don’t assume’ is one of my mantras, as everyone I coach will know! So of course Leanne from #ThePoppyFactor could attend.

Wow, what a revelation.

After the applicants had left the call, Leanne and I brainstormed what we do and how we might work together. She explained the fantastic work she and the team do – making poppies is just 5%!

Leanne shared, The Poppy Factory is doing some fantastic work bringing companies and individuals as well as veterans together to share ideas and action to deliver the change needed.

How very refreshing!

I can understand why The Poppy Factory retains it’s name – after all it has over a 100 year history of being there for all Armed Forces personnel from the early days when making poppies was such a brilliant idea in giving veterans employment but it has evolved into something vey special and so much more than you might think.

What organisation names have you come across that don’t reveal the awesome work they do?
