Michelle moves on……….

15/03/2017

Since the early days of Growing Talent Michelle has been a big supporter of Growing Talent.  A member of Portico’s management team, she has worn several ‘hats’ in supporting us!

One of these hats is selecting Growing Talent Associates for provisional job offers with Portico – seen with Michal in the feature photo above.

Michelle has always been down to earth, encouraging and supporting all Associates when delivering workshops on personal image and customer service as below as well as being a judge on the Social Enterprise judging panel.  After the presentation, judges feedback on their journey to their current roles and give their top tips on how to impress employers.

I never knew Michelle was the first in her family to go to Uni.  Had a career as a CSI working on some headline crimes/incidents before having her two children and moving to a more uniform role in the corporate sector.  Lesson – never make assumptions about people!

Delivering the Personal Image workshop above, Michelle started off asking ‘how much do you think my outfit cost’?

This wasn’t a trick question.  A great way to challenge perceptions that you have to wear expensive clothes.  Prices guessed were in the £000s.  In fact the whole outfit was less than £50 – including her bag and shoes!  Insider tips on shopping around teaming parts of an outfit from different suppliers and making use of sales illustrated how being smart in appearance – is as expensive as we want to make it!

Michelle has helped mentor many Growing Talent Associates into employment.  Just look at the group graduating with Portico in December 2016 below… Michelle is in the red dress…

Michelle has a generous spirt and encouraging nature.  She and Michal gave their time in sharing their journey – both personal and professional – with Chad during his work experience below…

Now moving on to a new chapter in corporate hospitality, I and all Growing Talent Associates who have received her guidance wish her well….

Bye Michelle – you will be missed!
