Reese is officially in the house – the MHFA house!

MHFAEngland is part of the global Mental Health First Aid.  The movement started by Betty Kitchener and Professor Anthony Jorm in Australia in 2000 is now in 23 countries!    MHFAEngland have just passed the 100,000 mark of trained Mental Health First Aiders in England – Joshua holding a very important 0 below!  What an achievement guys!

The movement’s remit is to raise awareness of mental health, remove the stigma and teach early intervention steps.  It’s been mentioned by global politicians including Barack Obama as a formidable tool in supporting recovery.

Reese & Gillian mid-way through Growing Talent

Reese was selected by Gillian Fraser and Emma Gunn – MHFAEngland’s Business Development Managers to join the team in data entry support as part of Growing Talent.  Apart from running the two day Standard Adult course, MHFA have devised specialist courses for youth and Forces personnel.   This involves a lot of data processing with orders, despatching and of course certificate production all of which comes under Reese’s remit.

At the start of this adventure Reese said ‘back then I didn’t think I would get picked for Growing Talent let alone get through and complete it’  What a difference the support of the MHFAEngland team and Growing Talent have made to this polite individual with so much untapped potential still to be seen.
