Speakers’ Corner?

We asked two Growing Talent Graduates to speak of their journey at the annual graduation held on 17 December.

Charizelle was on the first programme of 2018 and secured her role with Firmdale Hotels.  At the start of her journey, she didn’t have a clear view of what she wanted to do.  Some of her family were suspicious of Growing Talent and wanted her to get a ‘proper job’.  This is a common issue for many Growing Talent Associates.  Dealing with negativity in general is tough.  However, when you are trying to grow into a permanent job, even more so!  Charizelle stayed strong seeing the benefits of the role.  With little experience, Growing Talent gave her the stage to showcase her potential and encompassed her love of figures and finance as well as people.   As first point of contact for Firmdale’s residential block her role is looking after the residents dealing with a variety of issues.  People can stay here for weeks, months – even years.  Charizelle is still loving it!  As you can see she prepared a detailed speech delivered with passion and humility.

Kam was on the penultimate programme of 2018.  He was selected by Portico into a totally alien environment as part of the front of house team on a global corporate in the heart of London.  Kam spoke from the heart – or ‘winged it’ as he would say!

His journey was a tough one.  Not knowing what lied ahead at the start of Growing Talent, he took a leap of faith – which paid off.  He’s now a well-respected member of Portico’s team and learning every day.

Both showcased all aspects of the Growing Talent journey – the smooth as well as the  challenging.

I’m very proud to say every Graduate said they would do it all over again ‘100%’!
