Who said it would be easy?

You might think Growing Talent’s Orientation Week is a ‘walk in the park’
It’s more a sprint uphill at times with some of the thought provoking areas covered!
This week is all about preparing mind and body for the transition from unemployment into work.
It’s not as easy as you might think.
Mindsets have to be challenged and changed.
The way the human brain is constructed, overcoming the negative self-chatter (procrastination) is the first, and continuous, thing we all have to conquer.
Continuous because once we’ve secured employment there will be more changes ahead as jobs are built into careers. Procrastination will walk with us – until we learn how to tame it!
Left to right in the photo are Jermayne, Faisa and John working hard on one of the many tasks they’ve risen to this week.
All will be joining CIS Security Limited
John had some knowledge about Growing Talent – from his twin James who was on the second Growing Talent way back in May 2014. Although Growing Talent has completely changed since then!!!
We complete the week tomorrow with the i-act (for positive mental health and wellbeing) training. Mental Health Training giving Jermayne, Faisa and John the pro active steps to look after their own mind resilience but also the critical first responder steps to support those around them.
Considering the vast content covered so far, what are this dynamic trio’s thoughts on some of the things they’ve learned?
“I’ve learnt how to handle different situations that might rise at work”, Faisa
“I’ve never used a journal before, but it’s allowed me to recognise things I do and don’t like”, Jermayne
“I love listening to Jane’s insights on various topics. It’s allowed me to reflect and evaluate previous mistakes.” John
All agreed that doing this week as part of their journey into work is so helpful in raising their confidence even further.
A big thank you to Adam Bushell who popped in to say ‘hello’ and share some of his wisdom on surviving the workplace!
