No Pressure!

Friday 5 April 2019 – Social Enterprise Challenge

Last Friday saw the Growing Talent Associates deliver their idea to benefit their local community, deliver a revenue stream and enable onward growing to a panel of managers from their employers, JobCentre Plus and Southwark Care Leavers. No pressure then!

On offer was £50 cash prize for the best idea well delivered. As you can see from the feature photo of the guys getting feedback from the judges the trepidation was palpable! – Who had won….

After working all week on their ideas including homework, Friday saw everyone arrive suited and booted. Ready ‘to shine’ as Katrina would say!

Drew – 1st to present – ‘Food Store Library’, an innovative rolling food program
Charlie-Ray presenting ‘Cut it Out’ an innovative programme to address knife crime with a poignant personal insight to the impact on all involved following his friend’s death – ‘he went into a park and never came out’

Totally ut of his comfort zone, Bernie stepped up to deliver ‘Fresh Start Care’ empowering the homeless to change their lives
Robert was next delivering Culture Club an idea to bring the diverse communities in Woolwich together who remain isolated since the Lee Rigby murder. Ex-Army himself Robert saw the attack and is reminded everyday of what happened

Kelly just made it in time to deliver her idea ‘Home for the Less’
Navin delivering ‘Fair for All’
Heaven delivering ‘Mums for Movement’ – not quite the exercise idea you might assume! Read on to find out more!
Katrina ‘Time to Shine’ presenting her idea – E.O.T.O = Each One Teach One
Jamila’s presentation focussed on the real meaning of Drill Music and how it can be used in gang prevention.
Adeyinka presents ‘Moses Foundation’ based on two men he had known called Moses who died early, violent deaths
Amar was next showcasing ‘Blossom Roots’ based on his own experience of mentoring students with diverse needs from Autism to Dyslexia.
Lastly ‘Sunshine’ by Natasha

The judges deliberations went on……

and on.. before finally Allen announced the winner….
Heavenly! The judges likes the unique idea to support new mums and dates with basic CPR instructions for infants printed on blankets, instructions for cleaning and bottle feeding babies printed on feeding bottles and a safe sanctuary for all new parents.

After a hectic morning the guys enjoyed lunch with their managers………… Check back to see how they all get on!
